It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! The amazing women at #getthecraftout inspired me to do some festive decorating this year. I’m usually a Christmas tree only kind of decorator. The kids and I made yarn Christmas trees, I bought a beautiful floral arrangement from @oftheearthflorals and I also got some Juniper (I think, I’ve already forgotten which kind) sprigs from @oftheearthflorals to make a wreath for the front door. . . Even if you don’t live in Lincoln, check out @oftheearthflorals and @ibloomflowers. She does amazing arrangements! Such a wonderful inspiration. . . I also added Embroidery punch needles (the Ultra Punch). If you’ve been dying to try Embroidery Punch Needle, the Ultra Punch is a great tool. The Embroidery punch needle does not work with thicker yarns. If you want to use your thicker yarns, you’ll want the Peak Dale Adjustable tool or the Oxford tool. . . I’m the type of person who stresses about these kind of things, gets all nervous, procrastinates getting all the things done. Not this time. The kits were made, the yarn is ready, the cards are ready, I whipped up some signs, borrowed some tables and a backdrop. It all felt easy. I got this! . . If you’re local or even in the state, please come on down. There are so many wonderful local shops at this event. You’ll seriously have to make some tough choices on what to buy. And if you’re worried about the crowds, please don’t be. I avoided this event for a few years because of the crowds I thought I’d have to endure. The trick is don’t worry about coming right at noon. Come at 2 or 3, the crowd is much less, the vendors let their hair down and are more apt to strike up a conversation. So get your butt down there already! . . The specifics: Love the Locals at The Bay 2005 Y St, Lincoln, NE 68503, from 12-5. There is live music, great food vendors and beer. I mean, really, do I need to say any more?!?!? . . All the supplies you need: fabric scissors, fabric, frame, hot glue and a flat head screwdriver. Super easy. I also finished a frame that I had previously done on a Morgan No Slip Hoop. I put it off for a very long time and finally got it glued this morning. I must say, I don’t really like gluing the fabric after. It looks messier and the yarn loops didn’t allow me to get inside. I mostly glued on the outside of the frame, which will work well enough, but I didn’t much like it (probably the perfectionist in me). . . The kids have been into tea drinking lately. They came downstairs to announce ‘we’re having tea time Mom’. The romantic in me gushed. :) And then they made me some and brought it down to my office. Proud momma. . .
